About "Certified tutors" and "Tutor Certifications"

Be very careful and a little leery about companies and private organizations (for-profit and non-profit, alike) that offer "Tutor Certificates".

First off, you should know - and parents and students do, too - that so-called 'Tutor Certificates' don't exist and if they do, aren't recognized by the States' Boards of Ed or the Departments of Education (except, maybe, Arizona). The only instructional certification that is recognized by them is a Teacher Certificate. Anything else that is offered by different websites and various organizations, is not an official cert, and as such, is not valued by parents and students as a reliable source.

There are a lot of organizations that offer training and certificates, in the end of a 10 or 20 hours class or course that they provide. Training is good, no question, as long as it's provided by good and experienced and certified educators with college and university degrees. But the certificate that you'll receive at the end of the 'certifying' course, has to be scrutinized and evaluated very carefully! And as always, if it's not offered by an academic institution, such as, a college or university, then it should be treated like a 'limited warranty'. Any claim or guarantee by the certifying provider should be weighed very carefully and fully examined, as those certificates aren't recognized by any state or government official. So, beware!

Remember: a little research about any certifying or training company won't hurt either. Investigate that organization, do some research on them, make sure that the training is good and effective, and find out who provides the instruction and the coaching during the course of the training class or classes.
